Fanucchi Vineyards
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, CA
Fanucchi Vineyards is owned and operated by Peter Fanucchi,
"Vine Master," who took over the family business in 1984 after
the untimely death of his father.
Peter's father purchased the Wood Road Vineyard in 1972 along
with its block of Old Vine Zinfandel that was planted in 1906.
In 1981, Peter and his father planted a new block of Trousseau
Gris (a varietal that traces its lineage back to the rare
Alsatian grape, Trousseau).
Prior to 1992, Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard fruit was used by
other wineries such as Rodney Strong and Piper Sonoma. In 1992,
Peter established the Fanucchi Vineyards brand and, since 1998,
Barbara Lindblom has served as its winemaking consultant.
Fanucchi's vineyard practices aim to protect, nourish and enhance
nature's biologically diverse and balanced environment. Although
Fanucchi Vineyards is not "Certified Organic" (yet), no
non-organic pesticides are used. Peter, himself, farms the
vineyard vine-by-vine, row-by-row. Some people say that he knows
each vine so well he's given each one a name!
