Derbès
Calistoga, Napa County, CA
The origins of Derbès wines can be traced back to the family
vineyard in Champagne, France, where Winemaker Cécile Lemerle-Derbes
was born, raised and initiated into the world of wine.
After growing up in the vineyards of Champagne, Ms. Lemerle-Derbès
earned a Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and a Master’s degree in
Enology from the University of Reims. She then set out on a career
path that would wind its way through numerous vineyards and wineries
in France, Israel and California.
Just prior to launching Derbès with her husband Billy, Ms. Lemerle-Derbès
was the Director of Wine Production at Opus One, and the Director
of Winemaking at Pezzi King.
The 2001 Carneros Chardonnay and the 2001 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
are the initial offerings of what should prove to be a long line of
distinctive and highly sought-after wines from Derbès.
